Welcome to the TS Automation blog! A new place for straightforward advice, real project stories and useful information about electric gates, gate automation, access control and entrance security.
TS Automation is based in Wells and works with homeowners, businesses, schools and other organisations across Somerset and the surrounding areas. Whether you are considering electric gates for a driveway, need an existing system repaired or want to keep an automated entrance safe and reliable, the aim is to provide practical advice and a professional service without unnecessary jargon.
A little about TS Automation
TS Automation was established to offer a more personal and dependable approach to automated gates and access systems. I’m Tom Savage, the person you will normally speak to, meet on site and see carrying out the work.
Before setting up TS Automation, I spent more than 15 years working in demanding environments including ports, rail yards, fuel depots and major construction sites. That background shaped the way I work today: plan carefully, communicate clearly, respect the site and complete work to a professional standard.
The business is based in Wells, Somerset, with work carried out across areas including Bath, Bristol, Weston-super-Mare, Yeovil, Salisbury and the surrounding towns and villages.
Electric gate installation, repair and servicing
Electric gates can improve convenience, privacy, security and the appearance of an entrance, but every property is different. A good system needs more than a suitable motor. The gates, posts, foundations, power supply, controls, access arrangements and safety measures all need to work together.
TS Automation provides support throughout the life of a system, including:
New electric gate installation and gate automation for domestic and commercial entrances
Automation of suitable existing swing or sliding gates
Electric gate repair, fault finding and replacement components
Routine electric gate servicing and preventative maintenance
Intercoms, keypads, vehicle access and other access-control options
Automated barriers and entrance systems for schools and commercial sites
Some customers know exactly what they want before getting in touch. Others simply know that their current gates are awkward, unreliable or no longer suitable. Either way, the first step is understanding how the entrance is used and what the finished system genuinely needs to achieve.

Why start a blog?
Gate automation is full of questions that are difficult to answer properly in a short social-media post. How much do electric gates cost? Can existing driveway gates be automated? Should you choose swing gates or sliding electric gates? How often should an electric gate be serviced? What happens during a repair visit?
This blog will give those questions the space they deserve. It will also let us show the thinking behind completed installations rather than sharing only a finished photograph. The best projects often have an interesting story involving the materials, the site conditions, the equipment selected or a problem that had to be solved.
What you can expect
Future posts will include:
Real TS Automation installation and repair case studies
Guides to electric gates for driveways, access control and intercom systems
Advice on electric gate servicing, maintenance and common faults
Clear explanations of gate safety and responsible system ownership
Product updates and honest observations from working with the equipment
Commercial entrance, barrier and planned-maintenance projects
The intention is not to fill the website with generic sales material. Each article should be useful, based on real work and written in plain English. Where a subject is technical, it will be explained clearly; where there are different options, the advantages and limitations will be set out honestly.
Local service backed by commercial experience
Although TS Automation is a local Somerset business, the approach comes from years spent working on complex and safety-conscious sites. Domestic customers receive the same care in planning and workmanship, while commercial clients benefit from structured surveys, risk assessments, reporting and ongoing maintenance support.
That combination allows TS Automation to support everything from a private driveway gate to automated entrances at schools and commercial premises.
